Halfway Through Fall 2024 Law School Admissions Season: Applicants Are Up +3.3%, With Biggest Decline (-4.3%) In The 170-180 LSAT Band

We are now 50% of the way through Fall 2024 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is up 3.3% compared to last year at this time:

LSAC 1-4

94 of the 196 law schools are experiencing a decrease in applications. Applications are down -10% or more at 52 law schools:

LSAC 2-4

Applicants are up the most in Other (+16.0%), Mountain West (+8.7%), and Far West (+3.2%); and are down the most in Midwest (-1.6%), New England (-1.4%), and Northeast (-0.3%):

Applicants' LSAT scores are down -4.3% in the 170-180 band, up +3.3% in the 160-169 band, up + 2.3% in the 150-159 band, and up 3.5% in the 120-149 band:

LSAC 4-4

Not Indicated applicants are up +15.1%; Hispanic|Latino applicants are up +8.0%; Black|African American applicants are up +6.3%;  Asian applicants are up +5.2%; Hawaiian|Other Pacific Islander applicants are up +1.4%; Caucasian|White applicants are up +0.7%; Puerto Rican applicants are down -1.4%; and American Indian|Alaska Native applicants are down -3.0%:

Applicants in all gender groups are up:  Not Indicated +10.2%, Women +4.3%, Gender Diverse +8.7%, and Men +1.4%:

First Generation College Student applicants are up +1.0%:
