40% Through Fall 2024 Law School Admissions Season: Applicants Are Up +2.9%, With Biggest Decline (-5.2%) In The 170-180 LSAT Band
We are now 40% of the way through Fall 2024 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is up 2.9% compared to last year at this time:
109 of the 196 law schools are experiencing a decrease in applications. Applications are down -10% or more at 65 law schools:
Applicants are up the most in Other (+17.0%), Mountain West (+7.3%), and Midsouth (+3.3%); and are down the most in Midwest (-1.4%), Northeast (-0.7%), and Great Lakes (-0.4%):
Applicants' LSAT scores are down -5.2% in the 170-180 band, up +3.4% in the 160-169 band, up + 1.6% in the 150-159 band, and up 2.2% in the 120-149 band:
Applicants of all ethnic groups are up: Not Indicated +15.6%, Hawaiian|Other Pacific Islander +9.5%, Hispanic|Latino +8.2%, Black|African American +6.7%, Asian +5.2%, Puerto Rican +4.3%, American Indian|Alaska Native +0.2%, and Caucasian|White +0.2%:
Applicants in all gender groups are up: Not Indicated +8.9%, Women +4.1%, Gender Diverse +2.7%, and Men +1.4%:
First Generation College Student applicants are up +2.3%:
