25% Through The Fall 2024 Law School Admissions Season: Applicants Are Down -3.3%, With Biggest Decline (-10.2%) In The 170-180 LSAT Band
We are now 25% of the way through Fall 2024 law school admissions season. The number of law school applicants reported by LSAC is down -3.3% compared to last year at this time:
137 of the 196 law schools are experiencing a decrease in applications. Applications are down -10% or more at 96 law schools:
Applicants are down the most in Midwest (-10.1%), New England (-8.7%), and Northeast (-8.6%); and are up in Other (+13.6%) and Mountain West (+2.9%):
Applicants' LSAT scores are down -10.2% in the 170-180 band, -5.4% in the 160-169 band, -8.9% in the 150-159 band, and -3.6% in the 120-149 band:
Puerto Rican applicants are down -12.0%; Caucasian|White applicants are down -6.7%; Black|African American applicants are down -4.8%; American Indian|Alaska Native applicants are down -3.4%; Asian applicants are down -2.4%; Hispanic|Latino applicants are up +2.0%; Not Indicated are up +8.7%; Hawaiian|Other Pacific Islander applicants are up +14.0%:
Gender Diverse applicants are down -6.5%; Man applicants are down -5.6%; Women applicants are down -4.2%; and Not Indicated applicants are down +1.8%:
First Generation College Student applicants are down -4.2%:
