We held our first faculty meeting of the year over Zoom on Friday. Our new tradition is that the professor who won the previous "Waves of Excellence" Award (which rotates among teaching, scholarship, and service) chooses the next winner. Naomi Goodno presented the award for scholarship posthumously to Jim McGoldrick, who passed away from COVID-19 in May at the age of 76. As Harry Caldwell said in accepting the award on behalf of Jim, the award was richly deserved: not only was Jim a legendary teacher in his nearly 50 years on our faculty (the photo below is from Jim's receipt of the Waves of Excellence Teaching Award in 2017), but he had also published *seven* law review articles over the past three years. We deeply miss Jim's towering presence at Pepperdine Caruso Law.
