Phillips: Which Law Schools Will Thrive (46), Survive (65), Struggle (23), Or Perish (18) In The Age Of COVID-19?

Following up on my previous post, Which Of The 436 Universities Ranked BY U.S. News Will Thrive, Survive, Struggle, Or Perish In The Age Of COVID-19?:

James C. Phillips (Chapman), Will My Law School Perish?:

Based on Professor Galloway’s predictions, 18 law schools will perish in the near future (because their university will perish). That is 1 school in the top 50, 5 in the 51-100, 5 in the 101-147, and 7 in the unranked law schools. I have listed them below in order of ranking:

Nothing like kicking a dog while it’s down.

Galloway may or may not have done it well, but I give him credit for asking an interesting question. Showing up is half the battle.

"Who cares what this person thinks?" For starters: prospective law students?

Wouldn’t it be more constructive to do one’s own work than predict what is going to happen to someone else’s Law School? Who cares what this person thinks?

I will note that in my post I took issue with Galloway's findings, observing that his characterization for my own school appeared quite wrong, and wondering whether he had used the proper weights for the variables he had included in his model and whether he had left out some other important variables.

Before this pandemic, Suffolk's bond debt was more than twice its endowment, rated just two or three notches above junk status, and MADS (Maximum Annual Debt Service) on it accounted for 1/8 of the university budget. Meanwhile the school relies on tuition for 95% of its revenue and the institution is on like their sixth or seventh president in the last ten years. Does not take a lot of imagination to see them in an existential crisis in the near future.

Apparently, this kind of idiotic and irresponsible punditry will never end.
