Apple CEO Calls Overseas Tax Rap 'Political Crap'

60 Minutes60 Minutes, Apple CEO Calls Overseas Tax Rap "Political Crap":

Apple CEO Tim Cook on the idea that his company is scheming to pay little or no taxes on its overseas revenues.

The CEO of Apple, the world's biggest and richest company, says the notion that his company is avoiding taxes on overseas profits is just "political crap" coming from politicians who refuse to change an antiquated tax code.

CNBC, Cramer: Apple's Tim Cook ‘Patriotic’ on Taxes:

"One of the things I did take seriously when I was in law school was taxes," Cramer said Monday on "Squawk on the Street." "The main thing you learn is that tax avoidance is everybody's … duty. You're supposed to try to avoid." ...

"There's confusion between the words 'avoid' and 'evade.' 'Avoid' is patriotic because you're allowed to figure out the code," Cramer said. "'Evade' [and] you go to jail."

mike, I was with you until that part about national security. We have a government that believes it is entitled to know everything about its citizens, and justifies it under as broad an umbrella of "national security" as possible. The tech firms standing up against that is one of the few public services they actually do.

@ Mike, well said. If only more of our children understood there is little difference between Apple and Walmart.

This is an industry that evades taxes, uses cheap foreign labor, and thinks that the privacy of its users is more important than national security. How much of these spoiled children do we have to put up with?
