The IRS Scandal, Day 917

IRS Logo 2Albany Times Union editorial, The IRS Scandal Lives On:

It’s been more than two years since allegations surfaced that the Internal Revenue Service targeted tea party groups seeking tax-exempt status with extra scrutiny. Now the Justice Department has closed the case without any criminal charges. But the controversy seems unlikely to end anytime soon.

And that’s too bad, because the problem at the heart of the IRS’ effort – the widespread abuse of tax-exempt status – hasn’t gone away.

As we can see on college campuses all across the country, the totalitarian militant activist wing of the Democrat party is in control and no one has rights except for Democrats and then only those who are enthusiastic enough in their compliance with the demand of the socialist revolutionaries.

The IRS should not be involved in deciding anything about politics at all. Nor should the EPA, the Justice Department, the FEC, or any of the myriad agencies that have been WEAPONIZED by this Administration to punish his political foes and silence free speech and freedom of association.

Where did these right-wing groups get the idea that they could promote their ideology using tax-exempt "social welfare" organizations? Didn't they realize that only progressive ideology is consistent with "social welfare", and that right-wing ideology destroys society? Shouldn't the IRS be allowed to apply common sense?
