Perhaps "down 55 percent from 2011" would have been a better headline.

At least 30 out of the 55 schools that hired likely have no business hiring. Bravado is clearly driving this decision-making. Healthy institutions hire annually, and a lot of struggling law schools want to project health. Law firms do the same crap when they bring in a summer class of 80+ attorneys. Deans need to forget about public perception and start cutting costs. That means no new hiring.
