Bob Woodward needs to get his facts straight. Pres. Obama did not say there was not a "smidgen of evidence." He said there was not a "smidgen of corruption." "Corruption," in this context means "dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery." In fact, there is some evidence of misconduct. There might even be some evidence, rather ephemeral at this point, of dishonest conduct. But there is zero evidence of fraud and zero evidence of bribery. Thus, properly understood, there is not even a smidgen of corruption at the IRS. What the American people deserve and are entitled to is an honest and effective investigation that would root out the problems at the IRS--they clearly involve incompetent, and in some cases arrogant executives and managers, along with a badly written law. But with their constant drumbeat of alleged "corruption" and obsession with linking the WH to the problem, Issa & Co. are not doing the job they were elected to do.
