NALP Reports Class of 2009 Employed at 9 Months Data: 88.3%

NALP today released employment data for the Class of 2009:  88.3% of the 40,833 graduates were employed as of February 1, 2010.

They mean 88.3% of those reporting or something, right?

Because there were 759,000 employed lawyers in the US last year, and at least 12,000 lawyers also lost their job last year (very, VERY conservative estimate). But somehow 36,055 almost completely unqualified people were hired? 5% of the total employed number of lawyers?

That really seems unlikely.
