66th NYU Institute on Federal Taxation in San Francisco

The week-long 66th NYU Institute on Federal Taxation takes place in San Francisco.  Tax Profs with speaking roles include:

  • Ellen P. Aprill (Loyola-L.A.):  What’s Up With Tax Patents?:  "More than 50 “tax strategy” patents have been granted, and many more are pending. Can you patent that great tax idea? What happens if you recommend or use a strategy that has been patented? What is Congress going to do about this mess?"
  • Kathryn J. Kennedy (John Marshall (Chicago)) & David A. Pratt (Albany): IRAs—Investments, Rollovers, and Distributions:  "A discussion of the rules applicable to IRAs (both regular and Roth) with respect to investments (such as real estate investments), rollovers (including the new rules on nonspousal rollovers), and distributions."
