Thompson: Grover Norquist, Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan

Samuel C. Thompson, Jr. (Penn State), The Grover Pledgers: Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan - An Excerpt from the Book: The Obama vs. Romney Debate on Economic Growth: A Citizen’s Guide to the Issues:

The following excerpt is from Chapter 18, which deals with tax policy, of The Obama vs. Romney Debate on Economic Growth (in press iUniverse). The excerpt briefly addresses (1) the Class War issue in the current tax debate, (2) the brainwashing of the “no tax increase” Grover Pledgers, including Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan, (3) the potential de-brainwashing of the Grover Pledgers, and (4) the constitutionality and legality of these pledges. The excerpt is based in part on Beyond the “Buffett Rule” Making The Income Tax More Progressive, 133 Tax Notes 705 (Nov. 7, 2011).
