Come on, Prof.! This Johnston guy is making an invalid claim. If you live overseas, say, because Obama's policies have smashed any hopes you had of getting a job Stateside in your industry, you still have to pay taxes. If an American lives and works in Germany, and he has to pay as much if not more in German taxes than he would in U.S. taxes, why should the U.S. be entitled to a cut? If he's not living in the U.S. he's probably not getting much if anything from the U.S. Government. Why should he have to pay for something he isn't getting?

You're better than this, Paul. This is an unfair shot and doesn't deserve to be on your normally excellent website. Pull it!

Don't pull this. Love how you get the passions aroused for a good debate by posting another nonsensical article from Johnson.

Of course you are right. Johnson is a complete hack. That is why I love to read the comments to his articles. The best antidote to his and similar nonsense is not to exclude his speech, but to always present a factual and logical reponse. Keep up the good work!

I demand to see the tax returns of David Cay Johnston! Let's see if he minimizes his taxes or pays more than is required.

If they dont know for sure how people are dodging taxes, how do they expect to close these loopholes?
