Gamage Named Stanley S. Surrey Fellow in the Office of Tax Policy
David Gamage (UC-Berkeley) has been named Special Counsel and Senior Stanley S. Surrey Fellow in the Treasury Department's Office of Tax Policy. His primary responsibility will be drafting the tax regulations for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the healthcare reform legislation). He also will provide advice on new tax legislation. The position is a temporary one, structured as an Intergovernmental Personnel Act detail (like the IRS Professor-in-Residence position). He is on leave from UC-Berkeley during the 2010-11 academic year and will return for the 2011-12 academic year.
