Apparently Americans are such politically correct candy-butts they can't take a little folksy humor.

Taken out of context, as the media like to do, the comments were highly offensive to older Americans. In context, it is just barely possible to view Simpson as a rich guy with no people skills letting off steam. However, the comments are also creepily reminiscent of the public views of her-who-may-not-be-named and her Tea Party cronies.

Alan Simpson uses funny metaphors. He compared building an oil well in ANWR to "a sparrow's fart in a tornado."
