Judge Grants Wesley Snipes' Request to Travel Overseas to Work on Movies Pending Appeal of Tax Evasion Conviction
A federal district judge in Florida has granted actor Wesley Snipes' motion to travel overseas while the appeal of his conviction on three misdemeanor tax fraud counts is pending in the Eleventh Circuit. Snipes will be travelling to (1) London to help edit his new movie, Gallowwalker; and (2) then to Bangkok to film the movie Chasing the Dragon. The Government had opposed the motion on the grounds that (1) Snipes is a flight risk since he has a three-year sentence hanging over his head, and (2) he should not be permitted to travel overseas to begin a new movie project with an open-ended return date.
