IRS Defuses Faculty Tax Time Bomb

Last month I blogged the Tax Time Bomb for Faculty Paid Over 12 Months, which explains how § 409A might adversely affect faculty on 10-month contracts who elect to be paid over a 12-month period.  The IRS has issued Notice 2008-62, 2008-29 I.R.B. ___ (7/21/08), to address the problem.
