Tax Lawyers for Obama

Two of the community blogs hosted by the Obama campaign:

  • Tax Lawyers for Obama:  Lawyers and other professionals with a special interest in tax policy who support Barack Obama for president.
  • Tax Policy Discussion Group:  Discussion of tax policy issues from the perspective of Obama supporters, with a particular emphasis on reform and development of tax ideas that can bridge both the right and the left.

Obama's tax plan, if implemented, will be great for the business of tax lawyers. The higher rates will prompt more taxpayers to attempt to shelter their incomes.

I agree. Unlike many of Barack's policy positions he seems to be getting terrible advice on tax policy. I am a tax lawyer close enough to retirement to want to put myself out of business. I hope that the blog will allow Obama supporters to offer alternative ideas consistent with Barack's objectives, but that offer a real chance for bridging the right-left divide. Check out the ones I posted, which offer a particular focus on helping Main Street rather than Wall Street.

And thanks Professor Caron for mentioning the blog!
