In his weekly radio address yesterday, President Bush previewed the proposal he will make in Tuesday's State of the Union Address to provide a flat standard deduction for both self-purchased health insurance and for employer-provided health insurance of $7,500 for individuals and $15,000 for families. As tax prof. you have to see the social security implications of w-2 taxability for millions, plus employer share, helping to fix SS. ATM extension to millions and shifting of economic costs to middle/upper middle. The break between social "insurance pays so medical is free" and "medical care costs me" might be worth the cost??? It's who pays for the social/economic change?
